Executive Chef Shanel Gildenhuys, a master of fresh flavour combinations presented in innovative dishes, rich in taste and texture, heads up the kitchen of Simonsig Estate’s signature restaurant, Cuvée, where she gives unassuming country-style dining a new lease on life.
Shanel joined Cuvée with a wealth of experienced garnered in the kitchen of Manna Epicure, a popular foodie heaven in Cape Town, as part of its opening team in 2005 and prior to that, during her studies at the Institute of Culinary Arts in Stellenbosch.
Cuvée restaurant embraces food and wine lovers in a stylish yet homely milieu with a quirky nature that offers an element of surprise, apparent from the amusing décor as well as in the Cape cuisine inspired menu.
Under the guidance of seasoned chef and acclaimed food artist, Jacques Erasmus, Shanel’s authentic gourmet creations delight with the same standard of excellence and sophisticated flair for which Simonsig wines enjoy world acclaim.
With wine playing such a big part in the daily life of Simonsig, her menu is prepared and paired with an array of Simonsig’s finest red, white and sparkling wines and is also tweaked on a regular basis to incorporate a multitude of fresh produce, unique to each season.
A knowledgeable sommelier assists diners in selecting the perfect wine to complement the food on Cuvée’s menu which offers diners the choice of either a starter or full size portion for each of their dishes. Cuvée also offers their diners the opportunity to order wines directly from the comfort of their tables for collection after their lunch or dinner, or for delivery to their homes or their friends anywhere in the world.
Presenting culinary brilliance with a conscience, Cuvée stocks its pantry with fresh ingredients from the herb and vegetable garden on the farm and as much locally produced products to support surrounding communities.

Cuvée is open from Tuesday to Thursday, 11h00 - 15h00, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11h00 - 15h00 and 19h00 - 22h00 and Sundays for lunch. Private functions and parties can also be reserved in Simonsig’s swanky Van Niekerk Room.
Simonsig Wine Estate is located outside Stellenbosch, on the Kromme Rhee road between the R44 and R304.
